Cancelling a booking

Cancel more than 14 days before arrival: free, no questions.

Cancel 14 days or less before arrival, or do not show up: we charge the first night.

Package programs follow their own schedule of payments and cancellation. It is part of the program agreement: whatever you have paid by the moment you cancel, half is retained and half comes back to you.

Children

Children of every age are welcome. Under 6 they stay free sharing the beds you already have, and a baby cot is free, just tell us when you book. A child under 6 who needs an extra bed of their own is IDR 500,000 per night.

Ages 6–11 are IDR 500,000 per child per night, an extra bed and breakfast included. From 12, guests count as adults: the extra bed is IDR 600,000 per night, without breakfast.

One exception: Premiere Suites are adults only, for guests aged 14 and over. Every other room and both villas welcome families with children.

The jungle does not stop at the door

We stand on the rim of a river gorge, and the forest was here long before the rooms. Geckos live on the walls of every one of them: the small pale ones eat the mosquitoes, the big spotted tokay calls its own name after dark. Both are harmless, and neither can be removed: they come back the same night. Cicadas take the hot afternoons, frogs take the hour after rain, the village roosters take the dawn. Ants find a forgotten biscuit within the hour, moths come to any lamp left burning, and now and then a beetle or a spider wanders through on its way somewhere else.

None of this is a housekeeping failure, and none of it is dangerous. Keep food closed, pull the doors to when the lights go on at dusk, and if something is in the room that you would rather not share it with, call reception and someone comes. But if a gecko on the bathroom wall would spoil the holiday, Ubud is probably not the place, and we would rather say so now than at check-in.

The monkeys

A macaque sitting on the lawn by the path, eating

A troop of macaques lives along the gorge and wanders the grounds most days. Strictly speaking, they are the real owners of this land: we hold the keys, they hold the trees, and they were here first. They are gentle with people, and quick with anything edible left on an open terrace. Keep food out of sight, hold on to small shiny things, and please don’t feed them.

The robe in your room

The batik robe hanging in your room is the hotel’s own, made for us in Bali. Wear it to the pool, to breakfast on the terrace, to the spa. If you would like to take one home, it is IDR 600,000 at reception, and you get a new one, still in its packaging.

Pets

We are a pet-friendly hideaway, not a pet resort. Well-behaved dogs and cats of small and medium size are welcome. One pet per room is the rule; more than one is by arrangement, so tell us when you book. What matters to us is a settled animal and undisturbed neighbours.

  • Tell us before you book that you are bringing a pet
  • Pets stay on a leash in public areas, and out of the pools and the spa
  • A one-time cleaning fee of IDR 500,000 per stay applies to pets with fur; caged pets stay free
  • At check-in you will sign a short pet agreement: one page, and it protects everyone, including your pet

Deposit

We do not take a deposit at check-in.

Steps and the valley slope

The resort stands on the slope of the Petanu valley. It is not flat, and we tell you exactly what that means, room by room: Getting Around the Resort.
