Getting around the resort
The resort stands on the western slope of the Petanu river valley. The valley is the reason you are here: the view, the quiet, the river below. It also means the property is not flat. We would rather tell you exactly what that means before you book, not after you arrive.
Two garden levels
The resort is built in levels. The entrance, reception, the restaurant, the pool and the Garden Suites share the upper level: a step and a half at the gate, one more down into the garden, and the boardwalk around the pool adds a small step up and down. From the garden level a flight of twenty steps leads down to a landing, and the paths to the remaining rooms, the bar and the shala start there. We walked the property and counted every flight in August 2026.
Steps to each room, counted
- Garden Suite: on the entrance level. No steps between the entrance and your door.
- Valley View Suite and Honeymoon Pool Suite: twenty steps down from the garden level.
- Premiere Suite: twenty steps down to the landing, then one up and nine more down.
- Gem 2-Bedroom Villa: twenty steps down to the landing, then one up and eight more up.
- Villa Oia: one small step at the entrance, and that is all. The villa stands on its own grounds, and everything there (bedrooms, pool, garden) is on one level.
The Hidden Gem bar sits beside the Gem 2-Bedroom Villa, the same flight down and up. The yoga shala is the lowest point of daily life at the resort: eleven steps below the landing. The paths between them are stone slabs set in the grass, lit in the evening. We checked them after dark.
Handrails run along the flights.
If steps are difficult for you
Two good options. On the hotel side, book a Garden Suite: your room, the restaurant and the pool are all on the entrance level. You can spend your whole stay without a single step. What lives on the lower garden is the spa, the bar and the yoga shala.
Spa treatments can also be arranged in your suite: the therapists bring a portable table. Ask when you book.
For a nearly step-free stay, Villa Oia is the other answer: one small step at the entrance, then the villa and its grounds are on one level with no stairs anywhere. If steps are simply something you would rather avoid, the villa and the Garden Suites are the two places to book.
A wheelchair is a different question, and the honest answer is no. The room doors of the villa are wide, but the bathroom doorways are not, and none of the bathrooms on the property are adapted for a wheelchair. We would rather say so here than after you have flown in.
Our team is always ready to carry your luggage. You will not handle bags on the stairs yourself.
The River Walk is a different story
The morning walk to the Petanu is genuinely steep: the path drops to the bottom of the valley and climbs back up. It is optional, it is not part of daily life at the resort, and reception will tell you honestly whether it is for you.
Travelling with small children
The paths are stepping stones set in grass. A stroller rolls along them, but the slabs sit apart, so expect a slow and slightly bumpy ride. The upper level itself (rooms, restaurant, pool) is flat.
Strollers manage the main paths without trouble.
One thing to know, and we say it plainly: the valley side of the grounds is not fenced. The garden opens toward the slope. Keep small children close, especially near the edges and on the steps.
